Sweet dreams...

Black is the night. Your room looks dark. Only you, me and the camera. A small light brightens up your skin. Complete silence in the house. I can hear you breathing... And every 20 minutes the sound of the opening of the shutter. 20 second later, it closes again. These seconds pass by, these minutes, hours, days... Collecting hundreds of images, but every single one of them such a valuable memory. Most of the time you’re laying very still, often in the same position. From time to time you turn around. Did the shutter wake you up? “Mum?” “Yes my dear...” “I want to see how I sleep” “I know my son, but that’s impossible...” “I know, but you are a photographer! Could you please take pictures while I’m asleep?” “Of course my dear...” That was the very simple start of a long series of collecting treasures... In the end, what is more heart-warming for a mother than seeing her beloved child sound asleep? At those moments, I would like time to stand still. But while watching you asleep, I realize all this is passing by so quickly. With every breath you take, every minute that passes, I become more and more aware you’re growing so fast. I remember being pregnant, and of course the day you were born. But with time passing by, even these memories seem to fade. When I ‘m old and grey, will I still remember these nights sitting aside your bed, watching you and taking these pictures ? My dear son, if I don’t remember this anymore, please show me these Black & Whites...
